PROVIDERS
At Schaffer Psychology we have a Registered Psychologist, Registered Provisional Psychologist and a Certified Canadian Counsellor working with us. Registered Provisional Psychologists direct bill to a few plans such as Alberta Blue Cross, Medavie and Greenshield and for Certified Canadian Counsellors they direct bill to insurance plans under Telus E-Claims, Greenshield and Alberta Blue Cross. For other insurance plans, you will have to pay out of pocket and then submit your receipt to be reimbursed the full session rate. Ensure that you check with your insurer before booking in with the appropriate provider.

PAYMENT We will be processing payment for online/phone counselling sessions 24 hrs before the appointment, using your credit card on file and pre-determining some insurances before billing for the session. If payment fails, you’ll be notified and asked to arrange for successful payment, prior to 24 hours before your session. If unsuccessful, your session will be cancelled.

Registered Psychologist
A Registered Psychologist is a mental health professional who registration requirements outlined by the College of Alberta Psychologists. A Registered Psychologist has completed 1600 hours of supervised clinical practice, an Oral Examination and an Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) and has been approved by their previous supervisor to practice ethically and competently within the field of psychology.
Registered Provisional Psychologist
A Registered Provisional Psychologist is an individual who has completed a graduate degree in psychology (typically a master's or doctoral degree) and is in the process of accumulating 1600 supervised practice hours, completing an ethics exam and the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) which is required for full licensure.
Certified Canadian Counsellor
A Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) is a nationally certified counselling professional through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). In Alberta, the CCC is not provincially regulated, but the credential is commonly recognized in private practice and community settings. CCCs provide counselling and psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
