Your story matters - therapy is a space to explore it with curiosity, compassion, and courage.
“Through empathy and vulnerability, we can create a connection within ourselves and our world. You are more capable than you think and stronger than you know.”
My approach to therapy is for sessions to be catered to exactly what you need in the moment, whether that be serious and in depth or humorous and lighthearted. My primary goal is your comfort and success on your healing journey.

As you are contemplating therapy, I recognize that it can sometimes feel overwhelming or even carry a sense of shame. My goal is to ease any concerns you may have by creating a supportive and culturally sensitive space where you feel safe and respected. In our sessions, I strive to build a warm and welcoming environment that allows you to show up authentically as yourself and work toward your therapeutic goals at your own pace.
I work with children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, self-criticism, family or relationship conflict, identity struggles, and academic or career transitions.
I have a particular interest in supporting clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. As a South Asian woman, I understand the complexities of balancing cultural expectations, family roles, and personal identity. Together, we would build a partnership where you can reflect on your individual experiences and cultural values, finding balance between the two.

Hi, I’m Iva. I’m a student counsellor completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, offering low-cost therapy both online and in person in Edmonton.
Since I can remember, I’ve always been someone who loved helping others. My path into the counselling field has been shaped by over ten years of frontline experience supporting children, youth, adults and families across a wide range of settings. I also have experience working with individuals with diverse disabilities and communication needs.
I am currently part of the team at Little Warriors: Be Brave Ranch, where for over four years, I have worked extensively with children and adolescents who have experienced sexual abuse and other forms of complex trauma. I have gained profound insight into trauma-informed care, emotional regulation support, crisis intervention and the importance of building safe, consistent relationships with youth as well as their families navigating overwhelming life experiences.
Each of these experiences taught me how deeply personal an individuals journey is. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another. Our experiences, identities as well as histories shape how we make sense of the world and I believe our therapeutic work should honour that uniqueness.
At the core of my approach is presence. It’s important to me to build a therapeutic environment centered on empathy and respect. My intention is to support clients in reconnecting with their inner resources, building emotional flexibility and moving toward a life that feels grounded, meaningful as well as aligned with their authentic selves.

Ever since I can recall, I’ve been intrigued by the complexity of the human mind. My journey in psychology began as an undergraduate, where I delved into the foundational theories and the more I learned, the more I realized that psychology is not just a subject; it’s a lens where we can understand ourselves and others. I believe that every individual’s unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution to psychological well-being. My approach is deeply personalized, focusing on your specific needs, goals, and strengths. I work collaboratively with you to develop a tailored treatment plan that aligns with your values and aspirations.
Finding the right therapist can also often be a lengthy and challenging process, and I believe that a good therapist starts with a good trusting relationship which is what I can provide for you. I gravitate to issues including complex trauma, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, attachment, relationship dynamics and perinatal mental health.
I am so proud to be apart of the mental health community where I can help bridge the gap with community members. I have been in the mental health field for a decade, where I have worked in many capacities such as being a crisis worker and working at an outpatient mental health clinic for children and adults within the public & private health sector. I am a Registered Psychologist (#5691) and I am affiliated with the College of Alberta Psychologists and offer in-person, virtual and phone support anywhere in Alberta. In addition, I offer virtual support to those living in Nunavut and in Nova Scotia.
