The Psychological Association of Alberta (PAA), has updated their recommended fee schedule for psychological services to $235.00 as of January 1, 2025. The service rate at Schaffer Psychology Inc. will change to $235.00 for a 50-minute therapy session to reflect this recommendation effective January 1, 2025. Please note, if your current rate is set under a sliding scale agreement, expect your rate to reflect a change of $15.00 increase from the one that was initially discussed after re-visiting this agreement in our next session on a case-by-case basis.

We will be processing payment for online/phone counselling sessions 24 hrs before the appointment, using your credit card on file and pre-determining some insurances before billing for the session. If payment fails, you’ll be notified and asked to arrange for successful payment, prior to 24 hours before your session. If unsuccessful, your session will be cancelled.

Registered Provisional Psychologists direct bill to a few plans such as ASEBP, Medavie and Greenshield. For other insurance plans, you will have to pay out of pocket and then submit your receipt to be reimbursed the full session rate. Ensure that you check with your insurer before booking in with the appropriate provider.

Ever since I can recall, I’ve been intrigued by the complexity of the human mind. My journey in psychology began as an undergraduate, where I delved into the foundational theories and the more I learned, the more I realized that psychology is not just a subject; it’s a lens where we can understand ourselves and others. I believe that every individual’s unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution to psychological well-being. My approach is deeply personalized, focusing on your specific needs, goals, and strengths. I work collaboratively with you to develop a tailored treatment plan that aligns with your values and aspirations.

Finding the right therapist can also often be a lengthy and challenging process, and I believe that a good therapist starts with a good trusting relationship which is what I can provide for you. I gravitate to issues including complex trauma, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, attachment, relationship dynamics and perinatal mental health.

I am so proud to be apart of the mental health community where I can help bridge the gap with community members. I have been in the mental health field for a decade, where I have worked in many capacities such as being a crisis worker and working at an outpatient mental health clinic for children and adults within the public & private health sector. I am a Registered Psychologist (#5691) and I am affiliated with the College of Alberta Psychologists and offer in-person, virtual and phone support anywhere in Alberta. In addition, I offer virtual support to those living in Nunavut and in Nova Scotia.
